Tech Tip #1: Make Virtual Shared Notes with Family Using Google Keep

Published by Kait.AnchoredAtHome on

Use a Google Keep note as a virtual shared shopping list with your family members!

This is for couples and families with kids old enough to have a Google Account that they use. Google Keep is free with a Google Account – if you have a @gmail.com email, you have access to this tool and many more!!

Google Keep is basically post-it-notes on steroids and virtual. The way I use this the most is for shopping lists. There is a checkbox option that makes each line of text a separate “task” that you touch to check off! I create my list at home and hold my phone during the grocery store trip, checking off things as I go.

Two of the coolest things about Google Keep are:

1) it syncs between all devices that you have Google Keep on, (it is an app that you download on your phone, and then on a computer, you go to it online), and

2) you can add collaborators to specific notes so you and another person can work on a note together! This is where the collaboration between family members can come into play!

How to Add Collaborators to a Google Keep Note

  1. Create a list for anything – groceries, shopping needs, to-dos, honey-dos, etc.
  2. Add whoever you need to as a collaborator by selecting “Collaborator” from the note options.
  3. Type the person’s name or email to add them! They’ll now be able to edit the note.

Would you rather this or paper lists for grocery lists?
